Supporting seafood growers, harvesters, processors, packers, wholesalers, retailers, shippers, restaurants, and anyone in between.
Many seafood-related businesses own a dock or bulkhead. If your business is one, you realize they are expensive to replace. Estimates in our area start at $125 per linear foot for a dock and double that for bulkheads. Heavier commercial-grade construction raises the price even higher. If a hurricane or heavy storm were to destroy them, the cost to replace could be more than losing a key building.
However, most seafood businesses don’t insure their docks or bulkheads simply because they aren’t aware coverage is available. Pricing depends on many factors, but is reasonable considering the battering to which these structures are subject. Location, type of construction, and age all come into consideration, but yearly insurance premiums run between 2% to 4% of insured value. The best way to know for certain is to obtain a firm quote.

Do you write in Texas!?
William, thank you for the question! Yes, we do write insurance in Texas, but it is outside of our core states. That means we can do it, but we are much more restricted that if you were in, say, Virginia. In Texas, it would need to be a large commercial wharf, dock, or bulkhead to qualify for the program – north of $5m in value. Thanks again for reaching out. All the best in your search!
We just purchased a house with a bulkhead and may want to insure it please call me

Do you insurance private docks ? Or can you recommend a company for me.

The dock would be at 1442 McPherson Landing John Island SC 2455
1000 feet long and cover 15×15 pier head 12X20 lift and 6×20 floater
Shouldn’t be a problem. We may be able to insure it under a separate policy, but many times it is to your advantage to insure it with the rest of the home. It all depends on which insurance carrier is the best match for your situation. I suggest filling out a quote request form on our page at https://www.bankersinsurance.net/personal-insurance/home-insurance/ and in the Special Instructions section state your concern about the dock. The agent will either quote the dock separate, or include it as a part of the home quote, whichever is best for you. Up here in VA, docks are over $100 per linear foot, so I understand the desire to have it covered!
