Commercial Truck Insurance Program

Key Features

What makes our program different*

  • Assigned account managers: We operate a unique business model. We do not maintain a call center. Instead, each commercial truck insurance client is assigned a dedicated account manager, provided their email along with a phone number that rings right on their desk. When you need help, a real human being answers your call – one who is familiar with your account and whose number one priority is your service.
  • Convenient Payment Options: Our carriers are top-rated and offer a variety of flexible payment plans, including zero-interest plans.
  • Compliance with Contract Requirements: Many of our clients have complex contract requirements that necessitate specific endorsements to their semi truck insurance policy. Whatever your need, we will work with you to satisfy it.
  • Contract Risk Review and Assessment: In addition to an account manager, our clients are also assigned a trained commercial risk manager who can review existing or speculative contracts and offer advice regarding insurance requirements, endorsements, and additional risk being shouldered.
  • Dedicated Claims Specialists: Bankers is your advocate with your insurance company. We staff dedicated claims agents to guide you through the process and help make sure all is resolved equitably and fairly. Our priority is to get you back on the road quickly, with minimal impact.
  • Multi-Carrier Quotes: We represent many semi truck insurance companies and know the strengths of each. A company that has good rates for logging will likely not have the best rates for beverage distribution. We will not waste your time shopping your coverage with uncompetitive companies, but will present your business in its most attractive light to a filtered segment that will aggressively compete for your business.
  • Benchmarking: How do your truck insurance premiums stack up to your competition? We offer comparisons as to how your expenses compare to similar companies.

Insurance Coverages

The value of a commercial truck insurance policy is all in the details. Make sure your coverage is offered by a top-rated company with a proven record of standing by their policy, along with an insurance agent skilled in semi truck insurance. Remember that the largest risk is liability. Trucks can be expensive, but liability claims for bodily injury can far outweigh the cost of vehicle damage. Below are the main coverages available.

  • Liability: $1,000,000, $2,000,000, or higher limits are available. Can be offered for listed vehicles, all owned vehicles, or even any vehicle, as required.
  • Physical Damage: Actual cash value at time of loss, agreed value, or replacement cost.
    • Comprehensive
    • Collision
    • Specified Cause of Loss: Primarily concerned with specific items that may lead to a claim? Specified cause of loss may be the best choice for your business.
  • Income Loss: Protection for business income when impacted by a covered accident/event.
  • Medical Expenses or Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
  • Uninsured and/or Underinsured Motorist: Most state minimum insurance limits are low. If your vehicle is damaged by another party and their insurance coverage is not adequate, these coverages offer the protection you need.
  • Hired and/or Non-Owned Liability: Should your business rent or borrow a temporary vehicle.
  • Hired Physical Damage: Protection if your business is liable for damaging a rented or borrowed vehicle.
  • Towing and Labor

Depending upon operations, most truckers need certain additional commercial trucking insurance coverages. These protections can be added as required:

  • Intermodal, including the Uniform Intermodal Interchange Agreement (UIIA) Additional Insured Endorsement
  • Loan Gap: In the event your rig is totaled and, at the time of loss, the loan is greater than the insured amount.
  • FHWA, PUC, and all state and federal filings accommodated
  • MCS90 endorsements
  • Trailer Interchange
  • Cargo
  • Spoilage: Specialized protection for refrigerated cargo.
  • Downtime Loss and Additional Expense: Should a key vehicle be damaged and a suitable replacement not be on hand, you may experience a damaging loss of income. Downtime Loss protects your business against this risk. Extra Expense protection offers additional coverage should the business need to temporarily rent a replacement vehicle.
  • Company Service Vehicles: Or any other vehicle owned by the business.
  • Diminishing Deductible
  • Roadside Assistance: Fuel, tires, jump-start, mobile mechanic
  • Debris removal

Many logistics contracts and risk managers now require general liability insurance as protection against risks not associated with your trucking operations. This coverage protects your business against liability such as bodily injury, property damage, personal injury (libel or slander), medical payments, and damage to premises rented to you.

General Liability risks fall into three main categories

  1. Operations
  2. Drivers
  3. Premises: A vendor, supplier, other servicing trucker, or even clients being injured at your location.
  • A client delivers product to your location for shipment. He trips and falls off your loading ramp, breaking an arm and crushing three vertebrae. Your client sues for medical bills and lost wages, alleging the hazard was inadequately marked.
  • While unloading cargo, a your driver crunches a dolly into a parked vehicle. If your operations include the use of a piggy back/donkey forklift, such risk is higher.
  • Your driver regularly unloads raw materials into a specifically marked bin at a factory. The driver accidentally delivers material to a similar bin. That material in introduced into the manufacturing process, damaging hundreds of thousands of dollars of processing equipment.
  • You rent temporary storage offsite due to high volume. Your cargo catches fire and burns down the entire facility. The storage facility’s insurance carrier pays for the building, but then sues your business, alleging your cargo was your responsibility. Owners of the contents housed in adjoining units join the suit.
  • Your driver gets into an altercation at a truck stop while on the clock. An injured party sues your business for assault.
